Watermelon Frosé

I have been on a full fledged Rosé kick this summer and this is where it has led me – Watermelon Frosé (& I’m not mad about it either!)

Every evening around 5pm my family pops open a bottle of wine and heads to the patio. They prefer red, but since it’s so warm out my only choice is obviously something chilled and refreshing a la Sauvignon Blanc or Rosé meaning I’m slugging down a bottle every couple days solo. Not complaining – it’s a privilege to have my very own bottle – but I’d also like to share my joy and get them in on the action too! The plan: introduce them to Frosé ?

I found this recipe for Watermelon Frosé on The Glitter Guide and decided to give it a try. With only 4 ingredients (most you probably have already) it was surprisingly easy to make!

Watermelon Frose on Modern Stripes

Ingredients:

  • 1 750 millileter bottle rosé
  • 4 ounces watermelon syrup (*2 ounces sugar / 2 ounces fresh watermelon juice – stir until sugar is disolved)
  • 2 1/2 ounces lemon juice (I used limes instead and it tasted lovely)

Directions:

Pour all ingredients into a 1 gallon Ziploc bag and place in the freezer for 12-24 hours. Before serving allow about 10 minutes defrosting time (note: contents won’t completely freeze due to alcohol content in the rosé) and then blend for about 30 seconds to get a slush consistency. Serve and enjoy ?

PS. Happy National Watermelon Day?
